The device had already generated buzz through a series of public appearances earlier this year, including showcases at MWC, Cannes, and the Shanghai Film Festival. After that early attention, the phone has now moved from concept-like curiosity to an officially available product.

What sets the Robot Phone apart is its integrated motorized gimbal system. Rather than relying solely on conventional stabilization, the phone is designed to physically track subjects and perform more cinematic camera movements on its own. Honor also says the device can respond to its environment and engage users in real conversation, positioning it as more than just another camera-focused handset.

For buyers in China, pre-orders opened on August 12, with the first sales scheduled to begin on August 18.

If the reporting is accurate, it illustrates a growing contradiction in the market. Although Washington moved last month to block new imports of Chinese robots, the American robotics industry still seems to depend heavily on hardware sourced from China.
