OpenAI Fully Launches ChatGPT Health: Integrates Apple Health and Electronic Health Records as 300 Million Weekly Users Seek Health Advice
OpenAI has removed the ChatGPT Health waitlist, making the feature available to all logged-in users aged 18 and older across the United States. It is accessible on both the web and iOS versions for everyone from Free to Pro subscribers. The feature now integrates with Apple Health and electronic health record (EHR) systems, allowing it to provide personalized health insights by combining multiple sources of health data with user permission.

OpenAI has now removed the waitlist for ChatGPT Health and is making the feature broadly available to signed-in users in the United States who are 18 or older. The rollout covers all major plans, including Free, Go, Plus, and Pro, with access available through the ChatGPT sidebar on the web and on iOS.
The wider launch reflects growing interest in AI-assisted health support. According to OpenAI, the number of people asking ChatGPT about health and wellness each week has climbed from roughly 230 million in the early stage to more than 300 million, highlighting how quickly demand in this category is expanding.
Health data integration expands the scope of ChatGPT’s responses
Following several months of testing and user feedback, ChatGPT Health now supports broader data connections. The system can link with Apple Health, as well as electronic medical records from One Medical, Function Health, and multiple hospital systems in the United States.
Once a user grants permission, ChatGPT can review and synthesize different types of health information to provide more tailored answers. That may include medication details, lab results, visit history, sleep patterns, and everyday activity data.
More personalized health insights
With those data sources connected, ChatGPT Health can help users go beyond general wellness questions and move into more context-aware analysis. OpenAI says people can use the feature for tasks such as:
comparing a recent lab report with earlier results,
summarizing health changes since the last appointment,
reviewing how sleep and exercise may be affecting day-to-day wellbeing.
The goal is to make answers more relevant to the individual rather than relying only on broad, generic guidance.
Health context can also be used in regular conversations
OpenAI is not limiting the experience to a separate health-only section. Users can bring health context into standard chats by typing @Health, or they can allow ChatGPT to automatically consider their health background when responding.
That means everyday requests can be shaped by personal context. For example, meal suggestions can take dietary restrictions into account, while exercise planning can avoid areas affected by a recent injury whenever possible.
OpenAI says permission and privacy controls remain central
OpenAI says ChatGPT will ask for user consent before accessing any health data. People can choose whether to approve access one time or grant ongoing permission.
On privacy, the company says that connected medical records, Apple Health information, and related conversations will not be used to train its large language models. OpenAI also says the data will not be used for advertising purposes.
