Noscroll is a new startup offering an AI-powered bot that browses social feeds and news sites on your behalf and texts you when something important happens. Founded by former OpenSea CTO Nadav Hollander, the service aims to reduce doomscrolling while keeping users informed.

What if you could outsource your doomscrolling? That’s the premise behind the new startup Noscroll, which offers an AI-powered bot that browses your social feeds, news sites, and other online chatter, then texts you when something important happens.

"No feed. No brainrot. No ragebait. Just signal."

Built to Escape the X Love/Hate Cycle

The idea itself is fairly simple — it’s a bot that reads the web for you. But under the hood, far more is happening.

Nadav Hollander — previously the CTO at the NFT marketplace OpenSea after selling his decentralized finance startup to the company in 2022 — said he built Noscroll because he found himself in a love/hate relationship with X. After leaving OpenSea, he spent significant time on the social platform.

“It’s phenomenally entertaining and really informative in ways you just don’t get from normal media,” Hollander told TechCrunch. “But it’s so toxic culturally, and it’s just very upsetting to read,” he said, comparing it to the nutritional equivalent of fast food. “You just feel terrible after it.”

Hollander wanted to get off the app without missing out on the news and content. That inspired him to build Noscroll, which launched publicly just a few days ago.

How Noscroll Works

To get started, users text the Noscroll AI agent at (415) 718-4828. The service then sends a link to connect an X account. This authentication gives Noscroll access to information such as likes, bookmarks, and followed accounts and posts.

The bot runs on a variety of off-the-shelf AI models hosted on the company’s proprietary infrastructure. These models are customized with extensive prompting, giving the bot its own voice and communication style.

Users can chat with the AI agent in natural language, specifying which topics they want to follow — and which they don’t. The bot prepares a sample digest based on those preferences.

Beyond X, the AI pulls information from news sites, blogs, Reddit, Hacker News, Substack, and more. It can also tap into research papers, local politics, or other specialized sources. Users can recommend specific sources to ensure they’re included.

Instead of scrolling through social feeds, users receive curated news digests via text at their preferred cadence — weekly for casual followers or multiple times per day for heavy news consumers.

Each digest includes links accompanied by brief AI-generated summaries. Users can tap through to read full articles in their browser. They can also reply to the bot to ask questions or discuss the news, similar to other AI chatbots.

Noscroll can be added to a group chat or Telegram group, with support for additional chat apps planned. The bot also detects breaking news and sends alerts in real time when something significant happens.

Pricing and Personalization

Over time, the AI learns user preferences and claims to improve its curation accordingly.

The service costs $9.99 per month. New users receive a free sample digest and can try the service for seven days before subscribing. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, and Hollander says the company may experiment with variable pricing in the future.

Use Cases Beyond Tech

While tech professionals may find it useful for keeping up with daily AI news and updates, Noscroll is not limited to tech topics. Users can follow reality TV, favorite bands, local news, friends’ posts, unread newsletters, and more.

Hollander said he has been surprised by how people are using the service outside of tech. “People [are] following really niche anime industry news and local restaurant openings in Kyoto,” he said.

Others use it to track job listings and layoffs. Journalists have adopted the tool to monitor local politics and events.

“I think the archetype that’s been interesting is anybody who has a professional need to be very online and follow things very closely. It’s quite useful to have a deputy who’s kind of doing that for you on whatever your beat is,” Hollander added.

Early Traction and Availability

The AI bot has seen fast adoption and has already attracted investor interest, according to Hollander. He built Noscroll with a friend, an open source developer from the crypto world who goes by the username @z0age on X. The two have not yet decided how to respond to inbound investor attention.
